The city’s parks are beginning to hum with excitement. Whether you are out walking your dogs in Buckeye Woods Park, taking a bike through Reagan Park, having a picnic at Allardale Park, watching your canine family members make new friends at the dog park in Carolyn Ludwig Mugrage Park, or simply enjoying the spring sunshine in any of Medina County Park District’s 22 parks and nature preserves, you’re sure to be having fun outdoors in our area long about now!
Though Medina is beautiful in the spring, there are plenty of activities for people with interests other than the great outdoors. If you’re a car enthusiast, you’ll love the Medina Cars and Coffee event on Medina’s Historic Public Square Sunday, April 13. Grab a coffee or a pastry at one of the businesses on the square while you enjoy the more than 150 show cars on display from 8 a.m. to noon. It’s a great time to see old friends and make some new ones.

The Medina County Park District is a major player in the fun of every season, and not just through the many wonderful amenities the parks offer! The organization will host the 29th Annual Medina County Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 26th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Buffalo Creek Retreat in nearby Seville, Ohio. There will be food, fun and activities for children to enjoy. A Family Fishing Derby will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parent/child teams should bring poles and bait and register in order to win prizes! The Earth Day Festival will also feature a magic show, house plant swap, a tree seedling giveaway and raffle prizes.
Beer connoisseurs will want to mark Saturday, May 10th (5-9:30 p.m.) on their calendars. The Medina Beer Fest, to be held at the Medina County Fairgrounds, is a celebration of the iconic drink. Come ready to learn and sample. You probably weren’t aware of the variations available or the local brewers out there busy honing their craft! This is a fun way to spend a spring day.
Gourmet cooks and lovers of fresh, locally-sourced food are counting down until the 2025 Medina Square Farmer’s Market opens for the season on May 17th. Situated on the Historic Public Square, this market would thrill even the most discriminating farmer’s market aficionado. Looking for heirloom produce? Check. How about fresh flowers, locally-sourced meats and cheeses and a bevy of baked goods and homemade jellies and jams? Check. You will have a ball!
If you’re looking for artsy things to do in Medina, the city’s got you covered. Cool Beans Cafe is hosting “Golden Girls Cookie Decorating” on Saturday, April 5th from 6-8 p.m. Grab some friends and enjoy a fun night of creating these special, themed cookies! On Wednesday, April 2nd, Quaker Steak & Lube is hosting a hummingbird paint party (“Paint and Sip”) event beginning at 6 p.m. Come follow an instructor’s guidance on a pre-traced canvas as you paint one of nature’s most delicate and beautiful creatures.
Other communities very close to Medina are alive with spring festivities, too! If you love to shop, the Annual Spring Craft Show and Vendor Fair (Saturday, April 12, beginning at noon) at Amy’s Rustic Event Center in nearby Valley City is a must-do. There will also be a Spring Designer Purse Bingo event to benefit the Columbia Station Homecoming Festival on Saturday, April 12 from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It will be held at the Columbia Hills Country Club in nearby Columbia Station. What could be more fun than a night filled with music, hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and the chance to take home a gorgeous, high-end handbag?
